CAE software from LMS Numerical of Belgium released in India

Hyderabad-based Indo Infotech and LMS Numerical Belgium have jointly released "SYSNOISE" V5.3. Sysnoise is a computer aided engineering (CAE) software for vibro-acoustic analysis. The product offers complete analysis capabilities, with acoustic FEA and BEA calculations modules and the possibility to model the interaction between structure and any acoustic medium such as air or water.

Sysnoise V5.3 will be available on UNIX workstations and parallel computers. Addtional versions on PC (Win NT and 95), Cray, Convex and Intel Paragon will be released shortly. This version is based on multi-model concept. In revisions, users were limited to working on one Finite Element (FE) or Boundary Element (BE) model at a time, but now they can analyse super models which comprise multiple FE and BE. Sysnoise has completely reworked GUI with on-line hyper-text based documentation. A customised button window will allow users to assign each step of the analysis process to different buttons. The product is used in every major industry in automotive and aerospace and so on.

Infosys Technologies unveils new software products

Infosys Technologies Ltd., has introduced a new suite of software products that enables application developers to integrate a corporation's enterprise or legacy systems and extend OLTP (on-line transaction processing) services over the world wide web. The Websetu ( setu means bridge in Sanskrit) product suite consists of three components - PowerCGI, Dynaswift and Entark.

PowerCGI provides run-time support for deploying high-performance, scaleable and reliable CGI (Common Gateway Interface) application. Dynaswift is a toolkit for developing and deploying customisable, object-based, secure OLTP application over the web. Entark Enterprise Architecture is a tool kit for developing and deploying multi-tiered, service-based, heterogeneous and distributed client/server systems.

Websetu facilitates cross system/database access, security, reliability, location transparency, transaction management and OLTP performance. Users can develop and deploy applications that are multi-tier, heterogeneous and distributed. Developers can build a bridge between their legacy systems and the new web environment. PowerCGI assists in managing transactions where a user's context is important by equipping CGI applications with multiplexing capabilities. The statelessness paradigm of the web implies that there is no continuity - hence no logical transaction - between requests from browser to server. Once a request comes to the web server and back, the process is brought down until another browser request comes to the web server, and the user's context information is lost the moment a process is brought down.

Dynaswift makes HTML/CGI applications robust, secure and highly customisable as well as easier to deploy and administer. It provides support for transaction processing, memory management, security, handling dynamic queries and dynamically generating HTML forms. Dynaswift encrypts the transaction and session information of a user before sending it to the browser - thus protecting the user transaction, and prevents unauthorised access of session/transaction context. Entark is designed to provide a high-performance environment for heavy transaction processing application.

Indian IT company launches retail banking software

CMC Ltd., a major IT company in India in the public sector, has launched a complete retail banking software- 'TC-4' in India. Announcing the introduction of the product, the Managing Director of CMC said that TC-4 was a comprehensive, integrated and customer-focused online retail banking system which could give impetus to 'anytime anywhere' banking through a variety of delivery channels like ATMs, point-of-sale terminals and home and office terminals. The customer can avail of a much broader range of services tailored to his requirements.

The product priced at a range of $0.5 million to $5 million depending on customer's needs is being marketed world-wide by NCR corporation. Already 25 banks in 13 countries had installed the system, according to the Director, International Business, CMC.

The software package helped the I T major to bag World Bank project contracts in two Polish banks against global tenders recently. The contracts for the two Polish banks are valued at $5 million each covering the next five years for CMC. Armed with the TC-4 package, CMC will compete and bid for global contracts more vigorously. The Managing Director of NCR India said that NCR sees CMC's TC-4 and its own symmetric multiprocessing and massively parallel processing technology along with top-end middleware as an unbeatable combination that can provide the best value for banks.

Indian hotel software to be launched globally

Bangalore-based Intellect Data Systems & Software (IDS), which entered into an alliance with Tata Information Systems Ltd (TISL), the Tata-IBM joint venture, to develop and market a property management system (PMS) for the hotel industry, is to launch the 'Fortune GUI (Graphical User Interface)' package in the global market in 1997.

Fortune-V is a total-solution approach package catering to all areas of hotel management and will run in IBM's AS/400 platform, while another version is meant for the Pentium-based PC segment using Microsoft's Windows NT. IDS claims to be the first software company to launch a GUI-based front-end on the AS-400 with multi-lingual capabilities.

The product has been evolved over a decade of research and development from a basic guest accounting program operating on a single PC in 1987 to the current sophisticated software programs capable of operating in today's highly advanced multi-user environment. The package is now being used in hotels and resorts in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Yemen, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, and over 120 locations across India. At the recent 'Hotel & Food Service Review Awards', the four main hotels that bagged them were all equipped with Fortune-V.

IDS is concentrating its marketing efforts on the markets of South East Asia and China which are witnessing a boom in the hotel and hospitality sector. Joint-ventures for marketing and support for IDS software are already in place in Indonesia and South Africa and more JVs are in the offing.
