Data warehousing technology from C-DAC.
The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, will soon offer data warehousing technology in association with Germany-based Software AG.
While Software AG will provide the basic tools, C-DAC will develop the application technology. C-DAC will also make this technology available with porting applications on to its Param supercomputer. Orion Software Ltd., a Hong Kong-based company, will market this technology this technology internationally through its offices.
IBM markets Indian met forecast code
The T-80 weather prediction code, a very successful Indian monsoon prediction program, may be sold globally, following a deal between IBM Corp., the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bangalore. A three-year contract, worth Rs 20.00 crores ($ 6 million), has been signed to this effect.
Indian software being tested on US fighter aircraft
The software developed for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), the prestigious Indian aircraft design and manufacturing project taken up by the Aeronautical Development Agency in Bangalore, in collaboration with several leading Indian organizations, is undergoing extensive tests on the modified version of the F-16 and NT-33 aircraft of the United States.
LCA, the world's smallest light weight, multi-role combat aircraft
has been designed to be the mainstay of the Indian Airforce's combat capability in the early part of the next century.
The control law software , considered to be the brain of the LCA and developed by a national team of 50 engineers and scientists, is currently getting validated for zero error on the F-16 aircraft in the US.
Software migration tool for Oracle launched
Optima Softwear Services Ltd., the Hyderabad-based IT company, announced that it launched its premium migration tool, PowerShift, in association with its co-promoter, Sierra Atlantic Inc, a US-based company.
The tool converts PowerBuilder applications to Oracle's highly scaleable and tightly integrated Developer 2000 environment.

Indian aircraft design software to be used by Airbus Industrie
Autolay, a novel software developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), Bangalore, to design composites for India's prestigious Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) has found its way to the largest aircrtaft manufacturer in the word, Airbus Industrie.
Autolay, a CAD/CAM software developed by the engineers of ADA, would now be used by the Airbus Industrie for designing the body and wings of its future aircraft, according to the programme director of ADA. He added that Autolay is the number one software in its category in the world, the extensive use of which has made it possible for India to design the lightest fighter aircraft.
ADA had tied up with Computervision, the largest CAD/CAM company in the world, for marketing Autolay, following which the Airbus Industrie had evinced a keen interest in the product.
Advent to Market its software in the US market
Advent Computer Services, a 100 per cent export-oriented unit (EOU) based in Madras announced the launch of its distribution management software in the US market. The multi-company, multi-currency, multi-warehouse package took 500 man years to develop.
Named ADS 400, the application software package has been specifically designed for the IBM AS/400 system.
Autodesk launches mechanical desktop
Autodesk, has released its mechanical design software, the Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, an integrated 2D and 3D solid, assembly and surface-modelling software for desktop in India.
The Mechanical Desktop improves upon and fully integrates the capabilities of Autodesk's existing AutoCAD Designer and AutoSurf, and adds assembly capability.
Mechanical Desktop works cross-platform on MS-DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows NT and Windows 95. It is claimed to be compatible with Autodesk's other offerings - Autodesk Work and AutoVision Release 2.
